About the Author
Beverley Collins has held lectureships in phonetics at the universities of Lancaster and Leiden, and was Visiting Professor at Ghent University. He is presently a member of the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics.

Kindle edition missing the CD content

This review is exclusively about the Kindle edition. I haven't had the time to read the whole book, I have returned the kindle book and now I am waiting for the paperback to arrive. So far the book seems amazing and I am really looking forward to reading it, as well as hearing the audio tracks. Somehow the kindle edition comes without the CD and there is no access to this content either. This renders huge portions of the book useless, like those that talk about features of different dialects and accents by speech of English speaking people from different backgrounds. Phonetics and phonology are intrinsically about the sound and the meaning it makes and the kindle edition provides only written transcripts, where, of course, you won't be able to notice any difference between the Estuary speech versus RP, so you might as well just skip through those parts...
