Hildegard von Bingen verfaßte mystisch-visionäre Schriften, war Heilpraktikerin und Naturwissenschaftlerin, Predigerin und Komponistin. Ihre Schriften lösten bereits unter ihren Zeitgenossen ein gewaltiges Echo aus und führten zu einem regen Briefwechsel mit den bedeutendsten Persönlichkeiten der damaligen Zeit. Der vorliegende Band versammelt die wichtigsten Schriften der Hildegard von Bingen: "Ursachen und Heilungen", "Das Buch der Physika", "Das Buch Scivias", "Das Buch vom verdienstlichen Leben" und "Des einfältigen Menschen Buch von den göttlichen Werken".
